I really enjoyed that day with you, ozgirl. Lovely views over the coast from the Path of the Gods.

Shame about the grumblers though - one of the disadvantages of a tour I suppose but at least you weren't sharing a room with them!

Hi denisea,

Your trip sounds wonderful! However, the kayaking part makes me nervous. When we were last in Positano, we took a rubber raft "water taxi" to Nerano one day, and nearly flipped over. The waves were coming at a diagonal across the water, and the wake from boats passing by also made for an interesting ride.

Well, ya never know what the conditions will be from day to day - but have done lots of ocean kayaking so not worried about this. If the conditions are sub-par and not likely to be a fun day on the water, we would skip it.

Following with great interest. Definitely on our list of beautiful places but getting there has put us off.
denisea, I have a feeling you'll figure out a way.
The hotel views from a terrace are calling us.

Absolutely TPAYT -- seeing the coast from the water and getting to nooks that a boat can get will be fun. The views everywhere on the AC just look incredible! 2015 won't get here fast enough.

TPAYT, don't let transportation logistics put you off! It is not as difficult as it seems and we can give you lots of advice and options!

TPAYT, we put it off for quite a while because it was just easier to get to Paris or London. Once we decided to go to the AC, it was so worth the little extra time and effort!

Denisea, we're so excited with and for you! Interesting. . .looking through some "travel plans" we found a whole itinerary planned for the AC. . .flights, lots of other details. Something intervened, and we didn't take the trip. But it's certainly on our "list" to return. And just to reinforce, even though we have driven over quite a bit of Europe, we would discourage driving on the AC.

We're leaving next week for the Alps, and thankfully a few days in Paris before flying home. But we can't help reading and dreaming about a return trip to Rome and the AC. You're in for a real experience. We wish you the best! It's great to have anticipation, isn't it?

Thanks everyone --- you know we skipped over the AC for our honeymoon, so it seems right to go for the 10 year anniversary.

tomarkot----Don't you worry - you couldn't pay me to drive on the AC!!! Very excited for you and your upcoming trip----enjoy it all! I am superbly lucky here to be planning for the AC and I still have a trip to Paris to enjoy before we go to Italy. I will look for your TR and maybe our paths will cross in Paris or some other destination.

Hi again, denisea. When is your trip to Paris? Around the holidays? Yes, it would be fun to cross paths at some point; Paris would be great. Unfortunately, Paris will not be in the cards for us for a while. Too close to our September visit.

Just out curiosity, would you mind sharing how you arranged to meet LCI? Hate to give our e-mail address out in public. But not sure of any other method other than posting on Fodor's. Appreciate your thoughts.

Yes--Paris is at Christmas. I think we get there the Friday before Christmas.

I am truly getting old as I am not sure how I got in touch with LCI the first time. Are you looking to get in touch with her, specifically? I think Joan linked us up originally but I do have her email and could reach out to her and/or I know her handle on Twitter, also. If I can help link you up---let me know. She knows so much about Italy.

denisa (and tomarkot)...my memory is fading too, but I think our original connection off Fodors may have been via Twitter.

Didn't mean to inject "mystery"! LOL Have just enjoyed following the travels of both you, Denisea and LCI. . .at least thought we remembered LowCountryIslander as LCI. It would be fun sometime to cross paths with either or both of you!

Denisea, we spent Christmas week in Paris two years ago. You guys have been there over the holidays, too, so you know what you have to look forward to. Sounds wonderful.

I love crossing paths with kindred Fodorites! It's happened to me several times while traveling in Italy and Paris and those experiences have always been a favorite part of a trip!

Here's hoping our paths will cross one day tomarkot! ;-)

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Denise!

Denisea, I know this is an Italy post. But thought you wouldn't mind if I asked you about your transportation from and to CDG airport. (Not sure how else to reach you right now!) Have you used Victor, or heard of anyone who has used him lately? Since we're leaving home next week, we thought we'd like to line this up before taking off. Thanks!

And, "Yes" to hoping to cross paths sometime with you, Denisea and LCI!

Hi tomarkot, I'm not Denise, but we've used Victor for a few years and have booked him for multiple trips in the fall. I've never found him to be unreliable and his price seems fair.
