5 Nights in Paris

We are travelling to Paris in October for 5 nights. Where is the best area to stay in , if our interests are general sight seeing, museums, walking during the day and pleasant restaurants and bars at night?
Any 3 star hotels recommended?

The sixth. Check out the Madison and the Ste-Beuve hotels. What's your price range in general, and does that include breakfast?

And, I'll suggest the 5th!
Based on the first few responses, you obviously will have a wide range of choices.
A previous suggestion of a search (i.e., more research) is a good one!

Would you consider the Ile St. Louis (the 4th district)? I understand it is a most charming place since it's the island in the Seine. It'll be close to the 5th & 6th also.
I don't think the 4 hotels there are so expensive either except maybe for the Hotel Jeu De Paume.
