swandav ....that's because my trip report disappeared very quickly....but I know how helpful they are when people are searching so it is worth the effort.
Hopefully heading to Garmisch Partenkirchen later this year, so will be looking for advice from you once plans firm up...

Sounds great!! I'd love to see you & your partner and share some wine or a meal! Of course, I'll help all I can!

@swandav, that would be great. Am actually hoping to be there with my Dad, if he gets medical clearance, I want to take him to Germany to see his sister, but he's 81, so a cardiology check up first.
My boys horrified that I'm considering GaPa, as they love Mittenwald so much, LOL.

Hint taken Adelaidean, I'm halfway through. Glad you liked the photos, I've not yet posted them all, but slowly making progress as with the trip report.

Thank you vipsha, I'm glad I could offer a vicarious glimpse into a Lower Engadine holiday.

As for those long holidays - we lived and worked outside of the US for 15 years - in addition to local holidays (of which there were many), we had our usual vacation time (a minimum of four weeks and eventually six weeks) and in the case of a couple of 'hardship' locations, we also got a couple of week long R&Rs.

Now we're retired, so footloose and fancy free.

Adelaidean,

What a kind and generous thing to do for your Dad! I hope he gets the go-ahead for the trip.

Well, I'll do what I can to make your time in Garmisch a good one!! And... Mittenwald is only 30 minutes away!!
