With 5 days in Switzerland and never having been there before I'd probably spend the day elsewhere other than the Rhine Falls, nice as they are but there are oodles of just as nice or nicer places in the Berner Oberland and Montreux areas.
But if you really want to see it of course then go for it.

In the Interlaken area Reichenbach Falls, famous venue of a fight to presumed death of Sherlock Holmes' arch-rival the evil Prof Moriarity after the latter fell off a belvedere over the falls - is not as powerful as the Rhine Falls but just as pretty and there is usually a torrent of water in this very long water cascade and fall.
Easy day trip from Interlaken - boat on Lake Brienz to Brienz and train to Meiringen - bus to foot of falls then funicular or walk up a steep path to get to the best viewing point.

Meiringue, home of meringue I think, is also a neat town - has a tiny English Chapel with a bit about Holmes in it.
Brienz is famous for wood cutting.
Take the train back from Meiringen to Interlaken-Ost.

And of course the two famous waterfalls at Lauterbrunnen - including one really really high one (often in summer dries to a trickle however) and Trummlbach Falls, a water cascade inside of the mountain - the latter is as remarkable as any falls in Europe IMO.
