5 days in Barcelona - is it too much?
hello everyone!
I'm thinking of booking a trip to barcelona for early March 2008 for 5 days! Do you think it's too much time there?
Will we be bored at some point?
Also what's your opinion about that time of year there? I would love to see Barcelona, but i always thought that April-May, with the blossom of trees, the sunshine etc would be much better. Any comments?

there's always sunshine, just clear and cold in the winter.
you will not scratch the surface in 5 days, unless you plan on exhausting the sightseeing and wrecking yourselves.
read up on key things: http://www.way2stay.com/area-info-Barcelona-en-52.htm
This year, early march was actually warm and sunny, then it started raining for the latter half of the month.
most of the trees here are kind of evergreen, i was waiting for autumn last year and there isnt much pointed change. It's always beautiful anyway.

We spent a week in Barcelona in February. We thought the weather was beautiful and were going without jackets, although local residents were bundled up for winter weather.
We certainly didn't get bored and ended up deciding not to do any day trips, although if you did get bored, there are plenty of possibilities for day trips in the area.

We did stay in an apartment, and there are a couple photos of it in the album you saw.
I rented the apartment through this link:

We had 7 full days in Barcelona and could have stayed longer. I had planned two day trips but we only did one (Montserrat), because we hated to leave the city. There were parts of town we didn't even touch. You'll love Barcelona. (Search missypie Barcelona and my trip report from March of this year should come up.)

5 days is great -- also consider these apartments -- I've stayed in #11 twice. They are immaculate, comfortable, tasteful and perfectly situated www.bcngotic.com

Thanks! I'll consider the option of renting an apartment as well!
Actually hotels in BArcelona are quite expensive from what i can see... I don't know why but i thought they would be much cheaper!
(Bianca somehow i ended up looking at your wedding pictures. You got married in Florence?? How incredibly romantic!!)

I just wanted to reiterate that 5 days is not too much to spend in Barcelona. We spent 5 days there last March and skipped doing a daytrip to Girona because we were enjoying Barcelona so much. Can't wait to go back.

Cristine -- yes I got married in Florence and it was romantic and unforgettable. Thanks for checking out the pics. We honeymooned for part of the time in Barcelona (it was our 4th time there though, which is why I am certain 5 days wouldn't bore you). If you do for some reason get bored or just want to get out of the city and are a fan of Dali there is a wonderful museum of his in his home town of Figueres which is about an hour away by train. I absolutely loved it. Also eat at El Quim in the market (Boqueria) off las Ramblas -- http://www.travelandleisure.com/rest...de-la-boqueria or at least visit the market which is amazing. And for the best tapas avoid Las Ramblas like the plague. Here is my favorite tapas restaurant Cal Pep -- Placa de les olles 8 93.31.79.61 reservations HIGHLY recommended as the line is out the door otherwise www.calpep.com Do consider an apartment, it is the only way I travel unless I am just somewhere for a night or two. Even if you don't cook, you can still take cheeses, meats and other deli treats home from the markets and have a place to store them and eat them as you please (hard to do on a hotel bed and usually no fridge to store them if you don't finish). You also have more room to spread out and really feel like you are living in the city rather than just visiting.

jgg i've just read your trip report and now i want to go to morocco as well!!
The photos with the desert and the camels are amazing!
Bianca i love Dali!! Great idea! thanks!
Is anyone familiar with habitat apartments? I've seen some very nice ones and with great prices as well.
Nikki if you read this, how was yours? Like in the photos?
I'm also considering Banys Orientals Hotel which is in a great location (el Born) and at a great price (100€room/ 130€ suite).
