49 Euro German Pass 2023
With the news of Germany travel pass for trains and buses nationwide in 2023. Will Americans who vacation in Germany be able to get this pass? How does the pass work? Do you have to be in Germany to get pass? Do you have to have an EU bank account to get pass?

It isn't yet certain it will happen. 1 April is the deadline for the decision, with it starting on May 1st f it goes ahead.Until it is confirmed there is no way of buying them or knowing where you can get them.
It also isn't clear if it will cover fast trains. The €9 ticket didn't and it seems unlikely that the new one will.
Some parts of Germany offer free public transport if you are staying in the region at a hotel or campsite. Black Forest has the Konus karte for instance.

A quick update on this. The €49 ticket has been approved. Valid from May 1st, not valid on intercities or high speed trains, but valid on buses, trams, metros and slow regional trains on sale from April 3rd.
One month of travel for €49 sounds like a bargain to me.

As far as i know anyone can buy one. I don't know where you buy them though - I just saw the news on a Dutch news site.
Here is an English language site with the detail. DB (in the embedded link, in German only) don't yet have information on buying one.

Apparently the EU has to approve it as well.
I would keep an eye on the DB site for more news.
