Yeah, I thought the OP meant the 40L pack as a day bag too - for sightseeing and so on. That seems really big to me. No need to carry that large of a bag around.

I would pack a slightly larger suitcase or duffel (still within the carryon limits) and then a smaller day bag - small backpack or messenger bag). That will be much easier to handle on planes and trains and also leaves you with a more versatile day bag.

I think cold said it was perdue because if you are indeed a Madame, your adjective should be feminine, one should think. He was being grammatically correct whereas your screenname is not, although perhaps you don't know French. Someone else on here has a quasi-French sn that is gibberish.

Thanks for sharing Christina, we all need to be reminded of our shortcomings from time to time. Good for my soul. But the name stands, the reason my own, your opinion irrelevant.

Might also ask if the rolling duffel being proposed has a long enough handle for the OP to pull without "stooping"--that would get really uncomfortable with a backpack on. Test the entire travel kit.

"Still wondering about the "salute"!!"

This OP used the word "satule" in a thread asking basically the same exact question in March of 2013. I would say they probably meant satchel?
