4 or 5 days - Naples, Pompeii, Amalfi

How does this plan sound?
Mon, Oct 15 -- Leave Rome, Arrive Sorrento
Tue, Oct 16 -- Day trip to Amalfi Coast
Wed, Oct 17 -- Day trip to Capri, Leave Sorrento, Arrive Naples
Thur, Oct 18 -- Day trip to Pompeii
Fri, Oct 19 -- Leave Naples, Arrive Rome

If I should alter this plan, let me know the best way to see these areas in 4 to 5 days. Can any of the day trips be combined into one day? For example, is it possible to do Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, and Capri in 2 days?

Unless you have a certain reason to stay in Naples, it would be better just to stay in Sorrento.

I agree that there is little point leaving Sorrento for Naples. You can just as easily visit Pompeii from Sorrento as from Naples.

I guess I just want to see Naples. How about this for Thursday? Is it possible to start from Sorrento, see Pompeii, stop for dinner to have pizza in Naples, and make it back to Rome in one day?

Hi L,

Yes, but why do you want to rush?

You could do a daytrip to Naples from Sorrento and leave for Rome the next day.

Yes. You can get an early Circumvesuviana train for 30 min ride to Pompei. Visit Pompei, then take Circumvesuviana 30 mins to Naples. Have a pizza then take a fast train to Rome. trenitalia.com
You can also visit Naples from Sorrento. Hydrofoils take about half an hour. There is a nice area for a tourist walk in Naples right at the port.

The rush is to be back in time for an international flight out of Rome.

You mean you are flying out of Rome THAT EVENING??!! If that's the case you can't do it.

I love Naples and would rather stay there than in Sorrento. It's a very dense and exciting city.
