4 Nights in Austria

Will be making a brief stop in Austria in between Spain and Germany. Should I stay in one city? or make it to two?

One. Four nights is three full days. There's enough to see and do in Salzburg and the Salzkammergut to fill a couple of weeks.

Or, you could bypass the cities and head for the hills.

You could easily spend all that time in Vienna, there is a lot to see and do there.

Austria is not between Spain and Germany. So you will have your reasons to go to a certain place in Austria. As we do not know this place, we cannot give any serious advice.
