You will be in Barcelona for La Diada de Sant Jordi (St. George's Day). Women will receive roses from their husbands and/or boyfriends; the men receive books. There will be rose sellers on every street corner in the morning, and bookstalls set up. I've heard that a substantial fraction of the annual booksales are done this one day.

Hi
I loved Barcelona. spent 2 days there and would go back in a heart beat. It was a side trip from Paris and very impressive with great friendly people and a very old walkable city.
Go to the (Gothic Quarter)old section, walk the whole Ramblas and walk down to the floating bridge at the waterfront which is one end of the Ramblas.
Go to Barceloneta the man made beach and take the cable car (great views of Barcelona to the Olympic stadium. Check some of the Gaudi sculpures or buildings. Have a great time.
