3 week trip to italy - itinerary help
We're going to Italy for our honeymoon. We're planning 3 weeks there including travel time from Sept 10-Oct 1st (3 weeks). I need help determining how long to stay in each city. This is what I have from the research I have done so far. Please let me know if this sounds okay or if I should make any changes.
Venice - 3 nights (9/11-9/14) - we land at 7:05pm on 9/11.
Cinque Terre - 3 nights (9/14-9/17) Does it make sense to go here before Florence?
Florence - 3 nights (9/17-9/20)
Rome - 4 nights (9/20-9/24)
Capri - 3 nights (9/24-9/27)
Sorrento - 3 nights (9/27-9/30)
Rome 1 night (9/30-10/1) - leave from Rome airport

Your sequence looks fine:
Large City
Small villages on coast
large city
even larger city
island
small city
back to large city
Only quibble would be for 1 more day in Venice (time to recover from jet lag), and perhaps 1 less day in either Capri or Sorrento.
Capri is realy small - we found 2 nights to be perfect. That's getting kinda late in the season, so beach/pool time might not be what you'll want to do there. If pool/beach is important to you, I would reverse the itinerary - starting with a flight to Naples & then on to the Amalfi coast/Capri area. I also think Positano is much more charming than Sorrento (which I really don't like that much).

1) That's really only two days in Venice (since you arrive late on the 11th and are leaving for CT on the 14th). I'd add another day or two there, it's magical and there's so much to see.
2) I would consolidate Rome to only the end of the trip, to avoid one extra & unnecessary hotel change (which takes up a lot of time from the day).

I would change the sequence and days:
Venice--4 nites
Florence--2 nites
CT---3 nites
Sorrento--3
Capri--2
Rome--5
Actually, I would personally drop the CT since you have time on the AC and spend more time in the other destinations. Have fun planning.

3 nights Cinque Terre would be at least 1 night too many for me. It's pretty, but there isn't all that much to do there except hike and look at the pretty. But it is a matter of personal interest, and as you are on your honeymoon maybe you won't care about having other things to do.
