3 week honeymoon in Portugal: Evora, or Madeira?
My fiancé and I will spend just under three weeks in Portugal this August as our honeymoon. We had a pretty set itinerary until we just recently discovered Madeira. Based on what we have planned so far, I would love any advice as to whether or not you think we should skip Evora in favor of four nights in Madera? Here's our itinerary:
Days 1-3 - Lisbon
Days 4-6 - Sintra
Days 7-10 - Cascais
Days 11-14- Porto
Days 15-17- Evora
Days 18 & quote- Lisbon
If we did fly to Maderia, we would spend 4 nights instead of the 3 in Evora; so, we would either reduce our time in Cascais OR Porto by one day.
Lastly, if you do think Madeira is worth the trip, I'd love any advice or suggestions on where to stay- I'd love to not have to rent a car but it seems as if seeing and doing all the worthwhile activities on the island might require it.
Thank you!

Madeira is a lovely island and well worth the trip. Without a car, you should stay in Funchal, but if you don't rent a car you'll miss a lot of the really beautiful places. Driving is easy there, roads are uncrowded outside of Funchal and you can see most of the island in a day or so. even so, I'd stay in Funchal for the choice of restaurants, museums and general good vibe you'll get.
Evora doesn't IMO compare to Madeira, so I wouldn't hesitate in choosing the trip across. When we were last there, we stayed at the Porto Santa Maria, next to the cable car, restaurant area and right on the sea.

Madeira is a beautiful but quirky island. It is a long trip from the states but one stop from Lisbon. I particularly like Evora and is worth a couple of days.
If you want to sightseeing three days each in Sintra and Cascais is too much. If your intent is slow the world down, then they are very good choices.
