Going to Paris with my husband and 14 year old daughter in November. We want to stay together as we do not want her in a room by herself. Any recommendations for hotel where the rooms are large enough to sleep 3 adult sized people. I looked at the Four Seasons as they advertize such accomodations but paying over $1000 per night is not in our budget. Rooms seem to be very small and I have been told that double beds in Paris are like large twins and two in a bed would be very tough. Any help would be really appreciated.

We stayed at the Muguet in June. One of our rooms had a king bed as well as a daybed, which the hotel made up for our DD. We had a fantastic view of the ET as well. The room was 180 euro/night.

Double beds in Paris are the size of a normal double bed in the US, they are not large twins. This doesn't mean a double bed is the size of a queen or king bd. Of course you wouldn't put three people in a double bed.

Just look for a hotel with a triple room, that's all. It isn't clear what you are looking for, but you cannot look for a double room and expect to put three people in it, given that one is 14 years old. It is true that rooms in Paris may be smaller than you are used to in the US, for example, unless you go to a rather expensive hotel. But for moderate or budget hotels, the rooms are not large.

You can certainly find hotels with triple rooms that are not excruciatingly small for less than $1000 a night, though.

You need to book a triple/family room. There will be beds for 3. You will not get 3 into a double/twin room, but most hotels have at least a few triples.

And no, double beds are not the size of twins. They sleep two w/o any problems.

Consider renting an apartment - you can have a one-bedroom with a hide-a-bed sofa in the living room for less than many hotels.

There are scads of hotel rooms in Paris that will accommodate 3 people. We like the Hotel de France in the 7me and the Hotel Duquesne-Eiffel.

Depending on your length of stay, I would also recommend renting an apartment.

Another option is the Citadines chain, sort of a cross between a hotel and an apartment. Good locations and reasonable rates, though the furnishings are rather minimalistic! We stayed in one adjacent to Palais Royal when our time in Paris was too short for an apartment rental, but too long for three to share one hotel room... www.citadines.com

The Hotel de la Bourdonnais, in the 7th, has a nice family room with two double beds. It's room 503 and it has a very nice view of the Eiffel Tower. The room is good-sized. The bathroom could be updated, but it's ok. We liked the location, because it's quiet and upscale.

Generally, accommodation and breakfast for children under 16 are free at Novotel Hotels. There are many in Paris. www.novotel.com

Very often the hotel will put in a spare bed for you when you are travelling with children. Just contact the hotel directly, quote the price you have found on the web and ask for the possibility for an extra bed. You may have to make the reservation directly with the hotel. Often you may have to pay a small surcharge of 10-20 euros for the bed, depending on type of hotel.

We have stayed at hotel Bourdonnais for three years and found service and condition to be going quickly downhill. It does have rooms large enough for 3 and its location is fantastic. It is right by a subway stop, bank machine, two groceries, a laundromat and of course the Eiffel tower.

ELB, thanks for the update. We stayed at the Hotel de la Bourdonnais in 2005, and it's too bad if they aren't keeping it up. It wasn't luxurious when we were there, but it was clean and charming, although the bathroom needed an update like I noted. Thanks for posting. I'll be careful about recommending it now.

Try the Madison; some of the corner rooms have 2 twin beds pushed together plus a daybed. The rooms are large, and the hotel is very well located.

Lots of hotels have triple rooms, and usually the cheaper establishments understand this niche of the market better than the upscale places. Do not understand why you even looked at the George V if it is not your budget.

I stayed in a triple at Hotel Le Notre Dame. It is a rooftop room, with the single bed being in a separate loft above the main room (all open concept).
Big advantage to this hotel (part from 3rd space) is location (along Seine, across from Notre Dame, 500' from RER station to airport, Left Bank restos nearby, bouquinistes across street,Vedettes du Pont Neuf 10 min away,etc..) and its sunrise views of Notre Dame cathedral. Being that far up, street noise was not a problem.

I don't know what your budget is, but you did mention The Four Seasons, so I will highly recommend looking at rates for Hotel d'Aubusson on rue dauphine. The four of us stayed there in August in a superior apartment, which was two lovely connecting rooms with an interior hall inbetween and private door that separated the apartment from the other rooms in the hotel. I found a last minute internet special, and paid a little less than $800/night w/ breakfast.
