There are direct, easy trains to the airport from alot of places besides Amsterdam. Rottersam,Den Haafg, Leiden, Utrecht. Etc. so your options for where to stay your last night.

I stayed in Hotel Lion d'Or in 1985. I was 16 at the time and I remember it was a nice hotel, close to the train station and bus interchange, and not far to the rest of the town. It was over New Year and the Chinese restaurant down the street let off very noisy fireworks, but otherwise it seemed like a good location at the time, it was not affected by being near the station (i.e. no train noise, clean, safe). But that was 1985, as I said, and a lot can change in that time. Maybe someone else knows the area near Haarlem station and can confirm.

Thank you all - I was reading the Social Hub is full of college kids and that Haarlem will be a long commute.

I'm now thinking an XO hotel - the couture or would another one better?
