If moving around the country at all look strongly at a Swiss Pass - valid on trains, lake boats, city trams and buses, the iconic postal buses and gives free entry to 470 or so Swiss Museums. www.swisstravelsystem.com.

Switzerland – 10 Days (Really like to stay in the Alps and interested in Montreux)
2 Days in Zurich
2 Days in Lucerne
2 Days in Wengen
1 Day in Montreux
1 Days in Berne
2 Days in Basel
Yes if doing that by train look into a Swiss Pass or Half-Fare Card - even if you have a Eurailpass it does not cover many things a Swiss Pass does, especially in the Jungfrau Region - Swiss Pass covers trains to Wengen 100% - Eurail at most a 25% discount. consider an 8-consecutive-day pass that would cover every form of transportation in Switzerland - city transit to until you get to Basel where presumably you will not be doing any real train travel.
And yes your itineraries look really sweet!

Thanks stCirq and PalenQ - I greatly reconsidered my plans after all the advice from here and lonely planet.
I'm flying from London into Dusseldorf and catching the train straight into Cologne and allowing a half day just so I can see the Cathedral and continuing to Frankfurt to check in that night. I'm in franfurt for three nights (I will use one day to go out to Rothembourg - sorry if I misspell or something doesn't make sense I'm writing this from memory). I'm then moving on to Baden-Baden where I'm spending 4 nights (I have 2 full days of Black Forest private touring booked since I can't hire a car). Then onto Munich (I'm using Munich as a base to visit hitters eagle nest, the castles etc from). I'm staying in Neuremberg overnight should give me 1.5days as I will catch the early train then on to Dresden for a couple nights. Then I'm in Berlin (Prenzlauer Berg) for a week. I booked Accom that allows me to self cater so I can save on food.
Then I'm flying into Krakow (I got really cheap flights) purely because I must see Aushwitz Birkenau and the salt mins so I'm there for three nights before flying into Czech Republic where I'm basing myself in Prague for 5 nights and a night Czesky Krumlov for one. Then spending 10 days in Austria (5nights Vienna, 4 Salzburg).
Switzerland is a hectic Schedule friends meeting me in Zurich only staying overnight (her flight arrives quite late) then 2 nights in lucerne, 3 nights in Wengen, 3 night in montreaux and 1 in Berne (I think that's right).
Then 4 nights in Lyon, 6/7 nights in Paris (we are doing a day trip to sain mont Michel which is a 12 hour day so really only 6 days for Paris). 3 nights in Blaye where we will be doing a half day wine tasting, label reading course followed by a full day tour of the Medòc and a full day of St.Emillion (include chateau entries many tastings, 3 course lunches, transport and guide) then staying in Central Bordeaux for 3 nights. Then we're doing 3 nights in Avignon and 3 in Aix-en-Provence.
We're staying in Milan overnight (we just want to see the duomo and last supper) then Verona 2 nights (lake Garda) the Venice for 4 nights, Florence Rome and finally sorrento.
If the days don't add up correctly my mistake (it's a lot to remember off the top of my head),if you've made it this far thanks for reading. I know some people travel slower but I've tried to ensure that I'm always in one place at least 3 nights (a guide minimum I've read) and I'm happy with my plans. I've calculated travel times into everything (I start work at 4am here in aus so I base everything on my travel days starting early). This is my first trip so I know it will be great regardless and I'll know my preferences by the time I come back.

I haven't read the other postings so this may have been mentioned but for Switzerland, I'd blend a few things together. Zurich doesn't warrant two days; maybe an afternoon on arrival (are you flying into Zurich?). I would head to Lucerne and spend two nights there (its only an hour from Zurich). Then add one extra night to Wengen. You'll want at least three nights in the Jungfrau region. Then take the GoldenPass panoramic train to Montreux. Stay two nights if you can, visiting Vevey and the vineyards. Leave in the morning, stop at the Cailler chocolate factory and Gruyeres on the way to Bern. Explore there for afternoon and then head to Basel for your remaining nights. That makes it only three hotel changes and more time to explore the area you're in.
