3 Days Lot / Dordogne Trip
Hi there,
I have 3 days in the Lot / Dordogne area and would love some feedback on planned Itinerary
Day 1. Arrive Friday Rodez 3pm. Drive via Estaing and Conques to arrive in Figeac for the night.
Day 2. Sat early morning at the market in Figeac
Then drive via Autoire, Loubressac (and possibly Martel?) to Rocamadour.
Visit Rocamadour
Drive to Sarlat for the evening and stay over night (Via Souillac or Gourdon?)
Day 3. Sunday morning Visit Le Roque Gageac, Beynac area
Drive south towards Cahors stopping at 1 vineyard (Maybe Domaine le Passelys or Domaine Resseguier)
Stop in Cahors
Overnight in Saint Cirq Lapopie Sunday
Day 4. Follow the Lot river towards Carjac and then straight to Rodez for 3pm flight
Thank you

When visiting Rocamadour, check to see if you experience the same "vision" that I had via these pictures:

I noticed them only when I had the pictures on a bigger screen.

You have a few 'issues"
Day 1.
- Land, gather your bags, rent a car (I'm assuming you are flying into Rodez). Short Visit Rodez 3:00-5:00 at the best
- Drive to Estaing 45 mins 5:00 - 5:45.
- Visit Estaing (small town) 5:45 - 6:30
- Drive to Conques 1 hr 6:30 - 7:30
- visit Conques (more stuff to do & see in Conques) 7:30 - 9:00
- drive to Figeac 1 1/2 hrs 9:00 - 10:30 One of our favorite towns in France
Where are you having dinner??
- Check into hotel 10:30-11:00 PM
Day 2 is fine
Day 3 is fine, but not much will be going on in Cahors with all the shops closed on Sunday
Day 4 is fine

Couple of quick thoughts on day 2:
Specific: I'd drop Loubressac and substitute Carennac--much prettier town.
General: I think day 2 is impossibly crowded unless you plan to run through places. Figeac has a lot more to offer than just the market., even if you skip all the Champollion stuff. It's a great town for strolling. For example, it's worth seeking out the Eglise Notre Dame de Puy in the rue Victor Delbos just for the wonderful views down over the town. As for the other towns, Autoire is very small, Carennac in the middle, Martel maybe a bit bigger (and very much worth seeing). But to drive up after visiting Figeac (about an hour's drive, IIRC), visit these three and then Rocamadour, and then drive to Sarlat is one loooooong day. You can do it, of course, if your visits to the small towns is a half-hour race (OK for Autoire, not the others), but don't underestimate driving times. These are small country roads, and you won't be speeding (I hope).
I loved the Lot. And I get your time constraints. So maybe your plan meets your needs to cram in what you can. But think about dropping one or two places and having a bit more time in each destination.
Maybe drop Autoire and Loubressac, visit Martel and Carennac instead?

Ditto. We based in Carennac for 2 weeks a few years ago & loved it.
My wife's Shutterfly book from the trip. Carennac is on the cover

Stu thank you so much for the valuable info. It is much appreciated.
We had not planned to do Rodez at all. Perhaps day one, we should head straight for Conques and then onto Figeac. We have a nice hotel with pool booked there and can have dinner ealier.
Day 2 we might focus on Rocamadour and Sarlat. Perhaps take in just one village if we have time also.
Day 3, we will spend most of the day on the way to Cahors and again aim to arrive at out hotel in Saint Cirq Lapopie in the early evening to enjoy a swim and go for dinner. We might just do a short stop in Cahor after the vineyard.

Thank you so much. I think we will create more space in day 2, having time in Figeac and then just focus on Rocamadour, with maybe one other village (Carennac) if we have time. I have been to Sarlat before and we are just staying outside of the town. We will have dinner there.
Thank you so much for your help
