3-Day Madrid Itinerary ...Help ?

Hello All, I will be in Madrid from October 11th to the 16th. I'm looking for a nice walking itinerary for at least 3 of the days. The other days, I will be doing day trips. I want to get a feel for some of the highlights of Madrid, and that would include architecture and culture. Also, if you have experience with a restaurant or tapas place, throw it in...because I want to experience as much as I can.

Note, some of the itineraries that I've reviewed have recommendations taking me from one end of the city to the other end, and then back. There really wasn't a flow. Also, I recognized that I will have to take metro/bus/taxi at times, but I really like to walk.

Thank you for your time, and your efforts. I will pay it back in having an amazing time !

Peace and everything good to you ~

Exploring Madrid

Have you read Marible's Sightseeing Guide to Madrid? She includes a self-guided walking tour of old Madrid that you can follow: Exploring 17th Century Hapsburg Madrid

Hola

I found Madrid to be a very walkable city. As a reference point I used the Royal Palace at one end and the Prado Museum the other. This map gives an aerial view of attractions - Map of Tourist Sights in Madrid with Monuments, Squares, Churches, Museums and other attractions. A walk along Gran Via gives you an architectural feast!

Yikes...110 pages? that's a book. I was merely looking for recommendations from people who've been. Not that Maribel is not an expert or hasn't been. Just looking for some ideas. I know that I'm not going to see everything, but wants to capture some important buildings and/or areas.

Have a look at doing a walk with historian, Stephen Drake Jones, "chairman" of The Wellington Society in Madrid. You will see Madrid in a very different way.
Are you going to Toledo?
Any interest at all in Art, even minimal, go to the Prado, one of the great museums in the world.

Many good guidebooks outline such walks. The cost of a decent guidebook or two will be nominal in comparison to the cost of your trip, you will end up with a wealth of information at your fingertips, you will learn things you don’t even know to ask, and you will be MUCH better positioned to make choices that match your personal interests than you could ever be by relying on strangers on a forum (no matter their expertise). Or you can consult guidebooks at your local library. Good luck!
