25 Rue Charlot apartment - VRBO 49273
Has anyone stayed here in the last year? What was your experience? The apartment looks nice. I'm wondering about the neighborhood and what your rental experience was. We love to come back to our hotel or apt. after a long day and read -- is there good lighting?
PS I know there was a recent thread on this subject but thought listing the street in the subject might elicit more recognition.

I think that many people here have stayed there and it gets rave reviews.
I will be staying there in Feb. I think someone on this board is there now or will be this month....maybe they will see your post and comment.
The owner does post here to so maybe he will answer your question. He's very nice and easy to work with, speaks english too!

Bonjour Aimeep! To answer your question, there is a floor lamp specifically for reading between the bed and the sofa, and small lamps on the other ends of each. In addition, I am currently working on two new bedside tables, each of which will have its own lamp. They are almost done! (Yes, I'm making them myself. I've been trying for more than a year to find just the right tables and have given up. I refuse to buy something ugly or without character. Luckily, I am quite handy..
Even more lucky was the fact that the church down the street from the 1800's recently decided to empty their attic of all sorts of beautiful wood due to fire hazard. They just set it all outside for the taking. I was carrying whole church pews home that day.. So the tables will be made from that (very) old wood. It will match the wood of the antique bed -- I couldn't ask for more. So there, a little insider information for you.
On the neighborhood, I've lived in Paris a long time and can honestly say it's my favorite neighborhood in the whole city. It's the main reason I purchased the apartment there. But I'm sure you probably want opinions on it from others and not me. In that case, it's been mentioned by lots of the past visitors in the comments they've left me, all of which can be found on VRBO. If you have specific questions about it, I'd be happy to answer them.
Oh yes, and since you say you like to read, it may be worth mentioning that there is a growing library in the apartment -- people leave books they've presumably finished in the apartment, to add to the ones I put there. They also leave guide books, so now the apartment must have a copy of every guidebook ever written on Paris, as well as others like Paris To the Moon, etc. A heartfelt thanks to all who have done so! Unfortunately, someone stole my great little book on the history of Paris (in English).. a heartfelt boo-hiss to that person. Quand meme.

Can't speak from experience about this apartment but can about the neighborhood - it is great, we loved staying there. Do not miss the marche des Enfants Rouges - offers an amazing variety of prepared food as well as produce. Easy walk to resto/cafes and stores for groceries. You are close to several metro stations so getting around is easy, though you can also walk to many interesting places.
