2 weeks in Italy in June
My husband and I are planning a 2 week trip to Italy in June. We don't like packing and moving every couple of days so I want to stay in one location per week. We are open to taking the train/bus/taxi or driving for day trips. We will be on our honeymoon and we want to see as much as we can, however we don't want to cram too many things into our 2 weeks. We can always go back to see more some other time. Our most important requirements are good food and wine, and seeing amazing sights. Any suggestions for sights to see and restaurants to eat at?

I recommend that you stay in Liguria -- a beautiful region on the Italian Riviera. I lived near LErici for a few years and now when I go back I always stay at a wonderful hotel there called the Doria PArk. From this area you are only about one hour
(by boat, train, or car) from the CInque Terre--the beautiful ancient clifftop villages on the coast (see Rick STeves or any guide book or search Liguria on the internet). There is an incredible restaurant/inn near Lerici (in Tellaro) called the Locanda Miranda. The food is incredible (one star Michelin) and they also have a few rooms for rent.

The beautiful town of Lucca is only about an hour and a half away by train or car. Florence is also a good day trip--two hours. The entire Italian Riviera--including Portofino is easily accesible from Lerici. (Have you seen ENchanted April? This beautiful movie will give you a flavor of the area.

As you can tell I love ITaly and especially this region. Let me know if you want more info.
