2 passports to europe

Hi, I have both an australian and new zealand passport and will be going to europe for about 4 months. I understand that using an australian or new zealand passport can let you go in europe without visa for 90 days. However as i will be styaing longer, i wondered if its possible to go into europe first with either one passport and then go out of europe to UK for example and then re-enter using my other passport? then i will have another 90 days upon entry

I don't think you can, as your passport will be stamped on entry and when leaving the country you will get an 'exit' stamp next to it

It's illegal - the rules apply to the person, not the passport

Hi jc,

You are allowed to visit the Schengen zone for 90 days every 6 mos. They don't care if it is all at once or in batches.

Your plan violates the rules, and could end up with one or both of your passports confiscated.

I have heard of people who just overstayed their visas with nothing more than a warning not to do it again.

I am not suggesting that you do this. Merely reporting what I have heard.

I suggest you read this thread, not identical but could be useful. http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...-countries.cfm

You must know how difficult it is for foreigners to do more than a short stay in Australia or New Zealand so why do you want to disrespect the laws in Europe?

Either apply for a longer tourist visa before you set off or spend one of your 4 months in the UK or other non Schengen country. There is an older very long thread on this subject posted by the mother of a young Australian already in Europe (France I think). All the permutations of what is possible and not possible are rehearsed there.

The answer is that it's illegal but perfectly possible and highly unlikely to be noticed as long as you enter Europe (as opposed to Schengen) and leave it through a non-Schengen airport. If your flight is to, say, Paris, the airline won't let you board at, say Singapore, because you won't have a visa valid for the period your booking says you're going to be in Schengen.

If you get entangled with the authorities for any reason your crime, whatever it might be, will be made worse by the fraud you're committing. If you hire a car, you won't be insured.

Why not just apply for a six month visa?

I was wondering the same thing - why not just apply for a visa to stay longer?
