Ellenem, Thanks for the link.

I was using Trenitalia site which is same I guess. As per the site after 5:20AM train, next one is at 9:25Am through Bologna connection

Frecciargento 9415 Venezia S. Lucia09:25 Bologna Centrale
10:50
Frecciarossa 9518 Bologna Centrale 11:38 Milano Centrale
12:40

And it seems that the seats are getting over quickly. Is this my best option. Or Renting a car make any sense.

Hi,

I tried to search for "apartments in Venice for weekend" and it really works well. The place was nice, and it was the cheapest way for our family to visit Venice, you should try. Plus, you can have kitchen included so you can cook for yourselves.

I don't even know why you would buy train tickets for Venice to Milan two months ahead of time.

I would wait until I was in Venice.

There are trains from Santa Lucia Station to Milano hourly.

Most people buy their tickets from the machines right before they get on the train.

You are panicking for no reason.

However, you should be grabbing the first hotel or apartment you can get for Venice.

The full train schedule for August is not yet posted. It should be posted in a week or two. Look at the schedule for next Monday since you plan to travel on a Monday and you will see the number of trains you can expect to be available in August.

be sure to get seat reservations because the Italian airline can go on strike and you are left standing to Milan. Luckly I bought us res. and the trains were loaded with people the day of our last trip.

Apartment in Venice is confirmed,

It is Ponte delle Ostriche situated near to Campo Santa Maria del Giglio, between the St. Mark's Square and the Accademia area. Hope this is in a good location.

Guess, one less problem now.

Thanks

It is a good location for access to the main tourist sites of Venice, although high pedestrian area. Can be maddening at times.

You are close to the "Rodeo Drive " area of Venice.

Have fun at Louis Vuitton and Pauly.

Pepper_von_snoot, Thanks for the Location perspective.

Appreciate if you have any suggestions on what to do/Places to visit while we are in Venice.

Of course all of your experience on "How to beat the Crowds" while in Venice would be of great help.

If there are 7 people a 7 seat van will not be nearly big enough - esp since the kids will need booster seats. there will be no room for your luggage.

You might be able to use a 9 person van if you all take very little luggage. If you have more, including a stroller and other kid stuff - a small bus.
