2 days between Milan and Venice

We have 2 days to get from Milan to Venice in mid May. We prefer to rely on trains for traveling. Where should we go and why?

On the direct train line between Milan and Venice you can choose from Verona, Vicenza, and Padova.

Verona: intact Roman arena, museums and churches, wine bars

Vicenza: Palladian architecture

Padova: Giotto's Scrovegni Chapel, St Anthony's hometown catedral, oldest university

I vote for Varenna on Lake Como - charming little town with some great restaurants and hotels. Beautiful place to relax.

Only 2 days in Venice? Then obviously, you add your extra 2 days to this most unique world treasure.
