1st Time Italy - Itinerary Comments?

Thank you to all who have answered my other questions, I am trying to finalize my itinerary. We are a family of four, including boy/girl twins who will be 13 when we go next June. Thinking of approximately two weeks:

Day 1 - fly into Venice
Day 2 - Venice
Day 3 - Venice
Day 4 - travel Venice to Florence
Day 5 - Florence
Day 6 - travel Florence to Rome
Day 7 - Rome
Day 8 - Rome
Day 9 - Rome
Day 10 - Rome
Day 11 - travel Rome to Naples/Pompeii/Sorrento
Day 12 - Sorrento
Day 13 - Sorrento
Day 14 - travel Sorrento to Naples or Rome to fly home

Comments/suggestions?

Sounds just about perfect. Can I come?

Try to fly home from Naples to shorten the trip home.

Go to Sorrento after Florence and then finish in Rome. That will save you that dreaded last day just geting back to Rome. It is only 2 hours further from Florence.

Bob, I'm just curious, do you think it's a bad idea to fly out of Naples?

The flight out of Naples is at 8 am. So we would probably stay there the night before, visiting the archaeological museum that day instead of seeing it before heading down to Pompeii. Am I cutting time too short in Sorrento?

No---that is a good idea, just a limited menu.

I decided to add a day on to the end so I wouldn't feel we short changed Sorrento.
