19 nights sicily next may-look good?

husband and i are traveling to sicily for first time and will do via public transport. a few questions:

was planning on a day trip to monreale cathedral but understand it has alot of scaffolding. any idea when this work will be done? If it will still be up next summer, thinking 4 nights in palermo is enough (was thinking 5) as there won't be any day trips. want to do the culinary backstreets tour that has been mentioned here. seems there is alot to do in palermo and we are both originally from nyc and used to big cities

1 night agrigento

2 nights ragusa (this can be increased to 3 if palermo is only 4 nights) owner of our b&B has been most helpful and has assured me there is ok transprotation from agrigento to ragusa

4 nights ortigia-day trip to noto

5 nights lipari (too many?) we won't have a car and since we've never ridden a scooter they wont rent one to us. have a central location so easy to ferry to other islands

2 nights cefalu. want to have a buffer for lipari ferries getting cancelled.also our flight from palermo will be at 5:30 so we have plenty of time to get to palermo airport from cefalu.

any comments? suggestions? think this is almost final. really just wondering how many nights palermo and lipari? many thanks all.

Stop in Noto on your way from Ragusa to Ortigia.
Also, add your extra day to Ortigia.

Never been to Lipari so I can't weigh in on that segment, but otherwise I think it looks good!

I love Salina and you can rent a car, scooter or golf cart to get around, and there is also a bus that more or less circumnavigates the island.....

Where did you get the info that you cannot rent a scooter if you have no experience?

ek, 3 places in lipari told me without prior experience i could not rent a scooter.

so a golf cart would be perfect! that's a form of transport in salina? that's awesome.

I did not know that about the scooters.....ask your hotel but I never delved into the topic--too scary..but knowing Sicily the little that I do, I wonder...?????

Truly, look into Salina...we are headed for 12 days.

I might be afraid to drive a scooter but they also have automatic car rentals but they cost $80USD per day according to my hotel. AND there are golf carts. And the bus.
My partner could not walk when we were there last May, so we stayed at the hotel and I walked only to the center of Malfa for supplies and to look around.

However I can help you, just ask..I will be there middle of September and will have this laptop..so any questions you have, I can get answers on the site, for both Lipari and Salina....I would be very happy to ask the hotel owner and she knows all about the islands.....we stay at PRINCIPE DI SALINA. Lipari should be great as well I just have not been there...but we did book a day-long boat trip to Lipari and Vulcano next month but I think it is mostly for swimming and scenery as seen from the boat......we have two friends joining us so the price is ok with four people for 8 hours!!!! Imagine!!! I never took a private boat trip in my life!

**

Automatic car | Experience Salina Rent

Date: 12th or 13th of September

Car: Fiat Panda

Price: 80 euros per day

Pick up: at 9 am at Principe

Drop off: at 9 am the next day at Principe – you can leave the key at Reception

we had private boats when we were in kalkan, turkey. its wonderful. you stop in a beautiful cove, snorkel, swim, paddleboard. eat a fantastic lunch. we did it 3 days!

I so appreciate your offer bc its hard to find alot of information on the aeolians. the b&b owner has been helpful. we can also rent an ebike but wondering if that is ok to get us to beaches and vineyards etc. also wondering if i should spend 1 night on stromboli to see the eruption or do a long day trip to 2 islands and then see the eruption at ngiht (hopefully).

golf carts sound perfect.
