100 Hours and Counting.....Packed and Ready!

Actually, it's under 100 now, but who's counting besides me?!?

My wife and I leave Friday for our 16-day adventure. She's always said she has to travel "across the pond" before we start having kids, and we're not getting any younger (in our early 30s). She's never been , even though we've hit almost all 50 states. Anyway, we're flying into Rome for three days, then to Florence for two, off to Zermatt and Grindelwald for a total of 5 days for some hiking in the Alps. After that, we bunny hop to Freiburg for some Schwarzwald hiking, over to Strasbourg for Flammkuchen, and end up in Paris for 3.5 days. To say I can't wait is an understatement. I've been putting this trip together for eight months, and only regret not discovering this forum earlier than July! I've still gleaned lots of good information from here and will be sure to report when we get back.

Ciao!

Have a fabulous time, take lots of pictures to show your kids some day, and plan a family trip for the future!
Bon voyage

How I envy you two. Not because you're going (we're at 15 days and counting for our Spain trip), but because you'll be experiencing it together for the first time.

Take LOTS of pictures. Trust me on this. 12 years ago, I was you.

Seriously, dude, that's a great-looking trip you've got there. Enjoy it all.

Taking lots of pictures is usually not an issue with me (I've got 20 rolls of color and 7 B/W) and plan to have to buy more! Thanks for the reminder, though!

Officially 95 hours and 57 minutes until my first flight leaves!

27 rolls of film? You're kidding, right? That's like, more than enough. Your photographer at your wedding didn't use 27 rolls of film. There aren't enough sights to see on your itinerary to use up 27 rolls of film.

Well, 27 rolls of film is a lot but...

Didja think, Tony, that they may say "who the f*ck cares about the sights" on their itinerary? Maybe they want to take 27 rolls of one another. A shot of the wife eating some pasta, a shot of the hubby watching the wife eat the pasta, a shot of the wife looking sick after eating so much pasta...

What's it to you? Let them have their vacation already. ;p

Wow. Didn't realize that taking pictures would ever incriminate on my vacation. It's been my experience that I average at least a roll a day, and about 1/3 that of B/W film. Therefore, I'm traveling 16 days, sounds like I'm prepared. It never has detracted from our seeing what we want, and we have great documentation when we return and compile into an album. So there.

Anyway, only a little over 50 hours to go...obviously I'm so excited to go that I didn't even think that yesterday was three days to go, not four! I originally intended to post on Monday, which would have been 100 hours. Yesterday was 72. I hope I don't miss my flight!

Do not forget to confirm your return flight 72 hours prior to departure.
It really helps avoid foul ups in a foreign airport.
