100 Great Things to do in Rome
A long, long time ago there was a post "100 Great things to do in Paris". I loved that thread! Well, I'm leaving for Rome in less than 3 weeks. It's been 10 years since I was last in Rome and I would love to hear about fodorite experiences while in Rome. Guides books are great, but personal experiences are priceless.

My second trip to Rome is just 24 days away but my first trip we were in Rome in the early 1960's on the day the Pope passed away. I was only 6 years old or so. I still have the medal of the Madonna and Child on one side and the Pope on the other - it is beautiful. In my memory, I can still see my Mother in this silly hat and my family standing in St. Peter's square. I can't wait to see if my little kid memories are anything close to true.

Go to Volpetti food market on V. Marmoretta, 40 in Testaccio. Buy cheese to bring home. Buy delicious sandwiches. Climb the nearby hill (they will give you a little map after letting you taste a bunch things before making your sandwiches) up to the key hole to see St Peter's and then picnic in the orange tree garden with an amazing view of Rome. Walk a bit further and you will find the incredible rose garden (in bloom now!)
This is what my DH and I did this afternoon!! I'll be posting a full report in a few weeks when we get home.

The Enoteca Trastevere, Via della Lungaretta, 86, a wine bar/restaurant for a dessert called Il Saraceno. It has chocolate, cinnamon and some sort of hot, candied peppers or Red Hots.
I had chocolate on my nose for days after licking the plate (tourist faux pas for sure, but it was so damned good I didn't care). They also have a good selection of vino. I would not necessarily recommend the wine bart for dinner, but for vino and a great dessert...delicious.
The Galleria Borghese. Bernini's Apollo & Daphne still blows me away. Spectacular. Need to get reservations for specific times. You will be admitted even if you still have chocolate on your nose from dessert the night before.

I have read several explanations about the ttt meaning, but they never made sense until I realized that the particular thread then has a recent post and so goes to the top of the particular forum list on the left. So this thread will not be way down the list, possible onto the next 50 and thus forgotten. Especially this Paris thread - one of the loveliest I have ever seen.
