I visited Seville several years ago and loved every minute of it. DH and I took an escorted trip to Jerez for sherry tasting and then went to see the dancing horses. It was fabulous! We, too, went to the flamenco show mentioned above and wouldn't want to see the dancing in any other venue. Have a wonderful time.

We will definitely book ahead for the 18th , Kimhe, thanks for the tip.
& thank you dhack for your kind wishes, we hadn't planned on visiting Jerez, but just might squeeze it in now, as it seems to be very do-able.
We leave tomorrow, so very excited now, thanks to everyone for all their advice too,
JJ.

it's kimhe who has the expertise. we had a wonderful time there and I'd have loved to have had 10 days instead of the 3 we had.

have a great time!

Just want to second Weber's suggestion of going to San Lucar de Barameda. It is one of the most charming little cities in the area. If it is still warm enough, sitting in the central plaza in the evening, enjoying tapas from a local restaurant on the plaza will be lovely. It is one of my favorite memories out of three trips to Spain. Next time, I will go to the fish auction! There is a lovely beach also for walking. Just check the bus schedule for your return to Seville.

Cadiz is also very interesting, with beautiful windows - you know it is where Lord Nelson got supplies before the battle of Tralfagar.
