10 hours from Nairn to Edinburgh!
First time in Scotland this June. Will be posting 3 similar messages.

We will be driving from Nairn area to Edinburgh. Would like to take the most scenic route and see the most important tourist attractions ~ obviously, with time limitations.

What would you recommend?

You have a choice of a few different routes. I would recommend Nairn > Elgin (Cathedral) > Dufftown (Glenfiddich distillery) > Banchory (Crathes Castle) > Stonehaven (Dunnottar Castle) > Edinburgh. You would not have time to see all of those places but you would be able to see a couple and still get to Edinburgh by early evening.

Or for a faster trip Nairn > Aviemore (either via Inverness or via Grantown on Spey) > Blair Atholl (fascinating castle) > Perth (Scone Palace) > Edinburgh

I'd do it differently, I think. Spend some time around Nairn. Don't miss Culloden, and go to Cawdor Castle, then take the coast road to Banff, and stop and look and some of the fishing villages along the way. Then barry down the road through Aberdeen, Stonehaven and Dundee and, if you still have time go through Fife, maybe stopping at St Andrews
