10 days in Spain in November

Hi, all! I have been perusing boards for a while now and think I’ve got an itinerary put together for the trip to Spain my bf and I will be taking November 2-12. A caveat: we like to be pretty active on trips and we're not sure if/when we will be back. For reference: our fave trip so far has been a 10-day roadtrip all over Ireland, where we stayed in the same spot 2 days out of 10.

Priorities: We want to ue public transport (no rental cars!), see some of the main attractions, eat great food and drink wine, and enjoy the vibes. We have to include Bilbao, because bf’s heritage is Basque and his family (as far as we can tell) is from that area. The bf is not a fan of art museums, so I’ve only got two on the agenda (he is interested in architecture and outdoorsy things, so I tried to include some of that). Without at least one thing planned per day, we end up feeling pretty antsy.

I was planning a 9-day trip, but we ended up booking two extra days. I used one for Granada, but I’d love some advice on where to spend the other. We could add a day in Barcelona and see Montserrat? Or a day in Granada so we’re there for two nights? Another day in Sevilla? No idea.

Also open to recommendations re:
  • Lodging: roughly one step up from a hostel, with private bathrooms and rooms, or just general areas that are acceptable to stay in but not crazy spendy
  • Restaurants: tapas and inexpensive places (we will probably do 2 spendy spots for nice dinners but a lot of our unplanned time will probably be filled with food and wine)
  • Must-see or Might-want-to-skip sites (thinking about skipping the Alcazar since we are doing the Alhambra also?)
  • General route: I haven’t booked our flight to Paris, so we could fly from Barcelona to Sevilla instead of Bilbao and come back north instead, flying to Paris from Bilbao. Not sure if that matters much.
I know a lot of this is covered in other threads here, which I'm going through, but some of the info I'm finding is kind of dated.Schedule as it stands:

Day 1 (November 2): Barcelona
Arrive 12:35. Walk around Barri Gotic, Carrer de Blai for pinxtos

Day 2: Barcelona
Las Ramblas in the morning, then La Sagrada Familia, Guell, and Casa Matllo combination guided tour

Day 3 (Saturday): Bilbao
Fly from BCN to Bilbao, arrive around 11:00
La Ribera Market, Guggenheim, pinxtos in old town

Day 4: Bilbao
Las Riojas guided wine tour (returns to Bilbao around 5PM)

Day 5: Madrid
Arrive Madrid via train around 12:00
Walk around historic area, Prado Museum, mesones in Cava San Miguel

Day 6: Madrid
Royal Palace, tapas on Calle de Jesus

Day 7: Granada
Train to Granada arrives around 11:00, Alhambra tour at 12:00

Day 8: Seville
Generalife in the morning
Leave Granada 13:00 and arrive Seville around 4PM, walk around Barrio

Day 9: Seville
Royal Alcazar and Cathedral guided tour (3 hours)

Day 10: ??????????????????????????????????

Day 11, November 12: Depart
Flight departs 6PM from Seville airport, so we have some time today to enjoy our last day in Spain.

I really appreciate any/all insight you can share!

Thank you!

There are many better things to do in Barcelona than walking Las Ramblas, overrun with tourists. Not that it takes long.

I always recommend doing the evening tour of the Alhambra as well as visiting during the day.

Hi there! What would you suggest instead of Las Ramblas? Thanks!

I think I'd drop Barcelona and add Malaga or Cordoba
