10 days in Portugal/Spain-suggestions?
We are looking to vacation in Spain/Portugal. Flying into Barcelona spending 3 days then onto Madrid fo 2-3 days then Portugal for 3 days, not sure where though.
We love food/wine, beaches, and local culture. Any suggestions on what to do are greatly appreciated! Thanks
Laura

With ten days either see Spain or Portugal. I suggest you either get guide books or in the box above "View by Country" click on Spain and Portugal to see what might of interest. There are no beaches in Madrid and limited ones in Barcelona but more near to the city.
Please note that you use that little book symbol AFTER your journey for a trip report.

I think that, definitely, 10 days is not enough for all of that.
Having said this, I'm portuguese and it's a pitty if you only stay around Spain...
So, at least you could have a taste of Portugal and I thought that these guys http://www.ryanair.com seem to have flights from Madrid to Faro, in the Algarve, for less than €50. There you could spend a couple of days to satisfy your need for a good beach, some shopping and some good portuguese food. These guys have decent guide to algarve's Faro region: http://www.faroportugal.org
Last but not the least...if you really want my best advice, drop Madrid and make it just Barcelona and Lisbon. 5 days each. You'll get the best of Spain and Portugal.
have fun!
