1-800-... from Europe
Hi,

I'm wondering if 1-800- numbers are accessable from the Europe? For ex., if the credit card is stolen, the number to report to is usually 800, but I've heard that it works only from inside US. I called the bank, but the rep. sounded not very sure.

Does anybody know the answer?

Thanks,
Anna

Call your credit card company again, you got bum information. Every company will give you a number to dial from the country your visiting, usually it's a collect call but they answer the phone around the clock, 7 days a week.

A good clerk is hard to find............

800 numbers are not accessible from Europe for free - some cc's (Am Ex) have a long distance number that you can call collect to report theft. Or else you just dial the 800 number with the country code as if it were any other international call and pay the charge.
