I am trying to book a night train from Venice to Genoa through Trenitalia. Luckily I was able to find a train, however I am not able to purchase the tickets online. I went to the customer service section to get a number to call, and the # posted is 89 20 21. It seems to be missing the country code and city code. Anyone have a number for them that I can call to book this train? Thanks!

Someone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read that calls to the number in question can only be made from within Italy.

I think you are probably right, but there has to be some way to call them from the US right? I just want to book a silly ticket...

You can book virtually any ticket at the German national rail (Die Bahn) Call Centre. Dial 011 + 49 1805 - 996633.

You can only purchase online about 30-60 days in advance. You can't book the tixs too far in advance.

To access all types of Trenitalia service or information, you can call 89 20 21, without area code(emphasis mine), operative 24 hrs, every day.

Perhaps simply using the country code and no city code will work

hi from italy. the 892021 number without area code means without city codes, is NOT toll free, can be cale only from italy and... definitely you can't buy a ticket from abroad neither on their website trenitalia.it , nor on the phone. i just called them on your behalf and they replied you should go to a travel agency or buy the tickets in italy at the station. so it goes.... sorry



but you may try
recent changes in their policy made things difficult for anyone (e.g. no more discount cards)

I had to call Trenitalia once (while in Italy). Be prepared to speak & understand Italian.

Thanks for checking with Trentitalia directly! I guess I will have to wait until I get there. But I may also try that German # too.
