Windjammer Cruise

We are scheduled to sail on the Yankee Clipper Oct 7th from Grenada around the Grenadine Islands. We recently learned from other than the Windjammer people that the last 2 Windjammer cruises had been cancelled. Does anyone know why? We will be sorely disappointed if this gets cancelled for us. Since we already separately purchased airfare and hotel nights for before and after the Windjammer sail, we plan on going anyway. Perhaps, someone knows of another sailing company that would explore the islands or maybe we just have to ask around once we get there? I would really like to have some answers. The administrative offices of Windjammer say they are expecting an investor from England to finish a deal but to me, it seems like they are losing money if they aren't sailing. I'd appreciate it if someone knows what's happening or has any suggestions for us. Thanks much! Sandy

Rumor is that the buyer didn't come through, some of the ships are stranded as WJ owes money to the ports, to their crew, etc... Things do not look good right now. I would definitely hae a backup plan...

This website seems to have the latest info:

Good luck and please report back about your experiences.

Guess it's one of those hope for the best kind of things. I agree with having a backup plan on this one. When I decided against Windjammer for our summer vacation, my travel agent recommended Star Clippers but they are quite a bit more expensive. I do think they are working with WJ clientele though. Good Luck!

From what I hear, sailings are being routinely canceled.

For some insight, you might want to read this:
http://cruisediva.blogspot.com/2007/...eir-sails.html

The investor deal meantioned in a recent Wall Street Journal article seems unlikely at this point. Unfortunately, the Windjammer office in Miami hasn't been very forthcoming with information for their booked passengers and many have arrived down island only to find no ship. I hope your luck is better, but you might want to have a back-up plan ready just in case.
