Why did pick a certain cruise line?

We dragged some Pellegrino Aranciata with us, because my father is normally addicted to it, and we knew there was no way we were finding it, and the two of us had trouble remembering to finish the six pack since my Dad liked the lemonade they had available in the Lido.

There are several reasons, all equally important, as to why we cruise on the cruise line we do.
Fine food is very important, as is excellent, friendly service. We don't want a party boat, but we also don't want to deal with a stuffy environment. Smaller, more intimate ships (600 - 1200 passengers) are important. Open seating dining and the availability of specialty restaurants is an important factor. A casual (country club) dress code is also important, with no formal nights and no ties required. Cabins should be well furnished and comfortable. Not at all interested in water slides, rock climbing walls, shopping centers, or constant announcements.

Fine food is subjective. I can conceded that the ship's food is generally at least on par with with most big city chain restaurants.
We have stayed from "party" boat for years. Last time on a Carnival ship was more than 10 years ago. However, we like all sizes of ships: large, medium, small, we like them all.
Hard to believe one can actually come across poor service on a cruise ship. The staff are warm and welcoming. It's the people in charge that are less than friendly.
