Who Loves Royal Caribbean?
If so, which ships? I'm narrowing down my selection of cruiselines between RCC or Celebrity. I'm traveling to the Carribean sometime between Oct and Dec. and have read good and bad about both cruiselines. It's either going to be Brilliance of the Sea(RCC) or the Summit(Celebrity). My husband and I are mid 30's and want to be able to have many things to do on the ship. We live in the Arctic so there is NOTHING to do. So please let me hear it (ice skating, golf, swimming, spa, food, incredible ports, rock wall, Brewery Pubs, etc.
PS. There isn't a travel agent within 1,000 miles and rely on what I read on the internet. (no book store either)

RCCL offers many things for you to do especially on the newer ships like the Brilliance. I've been on both Celebrity and RCCL and liked both very much. It's a toss up between the two but don't worry they are both fantastic ships with good staff and plenty of nice things to see and do. You'll probably be out by the pool all day after the artic experience and you'll have fun..enjoy.

Artic Freeze:
Think about what it is that you would enjoy having most and then make the selection for yourself. I've sailed RCCL and while I didn't find them to be to my liking (not as much activity as I like) .... I still kept the right attitude and had a good time.
I've sailed every major line and a few old ones like Dolphin and Premier and can honestly say that I've always had fun because I chose to. It's amazing to see how many people on these posts (and on the same cruises I've been on) spend huge amounts of energy complaining about almost everything imaginable.
Again, pick the one that you think is best for you and have a GREAT time! Artic Freeze:

Sounds to me like you are describing the RCCL Voyager Class Ships with the ice skating, pubs, rollerblading, basketball, rock climbing etc. Brilliance is only going to offer you the rock climbing wall.

There are 3 Voyager Class ships to choose from (Voyager, Explorer, Adventure). I sailed the Voyager and there was so much to see and do I came home and immediately booked the Explorer. These ships are quite an experience.

Other than those three ships I would choose Celebrity over RCCL unless you are sailing for the ports, then I would choose Brilliance. You will find enough to do on any ship really.

FYI for those that love cruising they never complain about the small stuff.

Enjoy your planning.

Paul

We took our first and last Celebrity cruise on the Infinity in February. We have taken 6 RCCL cruises and enjoyed each. We don't ususally participate in the onboard activities. However, it seems there were always several thing going on all the time on RCCL and very few on Celebrity.

We have been on 12 cruises, 9 with RCCL, 1 Celebrity, 1 Holland America and 1 Princess (inaugural cruise of the Grand princess from Istanbul). We love RCCL for it's beautiful ships and great service. The one Celebrity ship we went on out of New York to Bermuda was nice but the food, which is so highly touted on Celebrity, was just good....not great. We've had better food on RCCL and HAL. Getting ready for our 10th cruise this August on RCCL and will do plenty more in the future.

I sailed on the Grandeur and the Sovereign 4 day. I wouldn't do another 4 day after doing the bigger ships. (Actually, I thought Carnival's 4-day had better activities and food.)However, the Grandeur was fabulous, and we've decided to try Voyager in June and carnival Pride in April. We researched the many reader reviews on cruisecritic.com - please check that site! Of course, the Brilliance won't have any reviews yet- and sometimes a ship needs a few months to work out the kinks before it gets things right.
