Where to stay in Rome -Celebrity Equinox

HI, We will be taking the Celebrity Cruise in October 31-Nov 7 (7days) Mediterranean, and we will be flying from San Francisco to Rome, (1) any suggestions on local stay that is not so expensive. (2) I wonder currently any good deal on airfares flying from San Francisco to Rome (3) can anyone tell me what is the guideline on transport fee from Rome to port and back to FCO Airport? Last but not least, if any Fodorites are on this cruise and interested in sharing private tours or transportation, we may be interested in that as well.

Thank you.

In Rome halfway between FCO and city center in May with

shuttle picked up the 4 star Seraton Roma $69 hotwire.com

It is their south Rome hotel best value I found.

betterbidding.com info on all of this.

actually stayed there twice average quality but great value

for expensive Rome in a nice residential garden like area.

The Beatles have stayed there so it is dated but renovated.

Their shuttle was 5 euro back out for me paid nothing to go

in taxi 40 euro and up to central Rome so great value there.

They surprised me with new a 2 euro per person per day city

hotel tax I was not happy about but still got a great deal.

You have time to pick up a couple of AA.com AAdvantage CCs

picked up 80000 miles doing this enough to book FREE

RT flights over in the fall just did this.

Good prices on flights on your route pay with the CCs

rack up lots more miles so might also look at that.
