What to do with whole day in Miami before flight home?
Our flight out of Miami doesn't leave until 7pm the day we get back from our cruise. Anybody have any ideas of what we could do to fill time? Didn't really want the added expense to rent a car and of course, we'll have luggage with us. Any thoughts would be welcome!
X
If you are like us, you will sleep the entire day after the cruise! We had to stay a day and night in Miami; stayed in and watched HBO for 5 hrs before dinner! You can do an Everglades or "Bay Area" tour with your cruise line. Bummer. Other than that, I suggest grabbing snacks on ship before you leave- getting off late (noon) going to airport, checking your luggage, bring some good reading material, etc. There is a hole-in-the wall restaurant called Peru Place right by the airport which is FABULOUS! Start with an early cocktail at 4, followed by one or 2 more- then order dinner. get back to airport at 6...and you're there!

There are a number of post cruise tours you can generally arrange through the cruise line. They meet you right at the port and cart you around for a few hours and then drop you off at the airport. As I recall we took the Seaquarium tour where we spent about 4 hours and it turned out to be a good way to spend the time.
If you don't think you'll be too tired, maybe you should go on an excursion. After our last cruise, we had a late flight out and the day in the airport was hellish. If I get a late flight out again, I'll definitely have something more than spending time in the airport planned, even if it's just a hotel room to hang out in. Cheers

I've heard the Seaquarium isn't far from the port in Miami and is worth the trip. I would check to see if they will hold your luggage if you'll have it with you. What we did once (with children) was rented a room at the Miami Airport hotel (they have a day rate). We were able to take the kids to the pool and relax before the trip back to reality. Good Luck
