Umbrella provided on Norwegian Dawn?

We are hoping we can dodge the hurricanes during our cruise but knowing it's hurricane season we will be lucky if we just get some rain. I am wondering if Norwegian Dawn provides umbrellas to their passengers when visiting ports. That's one less thing to pack if they do.

Thanks for any info. Meanwhile we're keeping our fingers crossed!

We were on NCL Majesty last month - no sign of umbrellas on that ship. I would tend to doubt it.

I think you question is tongue in cheek but I'll bite. I've never seen any cruiseline give umbrellas, you're pretty much on your own. With 2500 passengers I can't imagine the logistics involved in storing, distributing and collecting them.

Frank, there are ships that give out umbrellas. Radisson provides umbrellas in the cabin for all passengers.

Obason, not familiar with Norwegian Dawn as to whether they do or not. Why don't you call their 800# customer service and find out. It is very nice to not have to pack one if you can avoid it.

nygolfer41: Thanks for the info, having only been on mass market lines, RCCL, NCL, Carnival, Princess etc. I've never seen it. We were on the NCL Dawn last year and their were no umbrellas in the cabins but we were lucky and didn't need them. Up to Nova Scotia last fall on Royal Carribean, it rained and we weren't offered umbrellas. I guess the high end lines like Radisson, Crystal, etc. offer them but I guess you pay for all those amenities in the upfront cost.

My sister just took a Celebrity Cruise to Alaska in June and got booked in the concierge class. They did give them umbrellas to use. But I think that is the extent of giving umbrellas to use.

What does it cost to invest in a small folding travel umbrella...$5.00 or less. You are spending hundreds on the cruise and probably hundreds on new clothing, so go to Target or K-Mart or WalMart and make the investment.

I have travelled the world and I always take an umbrella with me. Most trips it stays in my suitcase. It's when you don't it, it will rain. Never goes to fail.
