Tours??
Help... We are considering cruising this fall maybe on the Voyager and want to know how much are the tours on the islands? We are not big watersports people. Not into diving, scuba, snorkling... Are there any other activities or tours besides watersports? The stops will be Labadee (private island), Ochio Rios- we would do the dunns river falls, Grand Caymen (not into scuba diving or that stingray tour everyone goes too) and Cozumel, MX... What other tours do they offer. Also, interested in Peat Taylor for dunns river falls.. How much is that tour compared to the ships.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Why would you choose to cruise the Western Caribbean if you are not big water sports people? Most of all the activities on a Western Cruise are geared to snorkeling and water activities. Labadee - beach and snorkeling. Grand Caymen - beach and snorkeling and diving. Same for Cozumel. And you will find Cozumel to be hot. I can't tolerate Cozumel unless I know sometime during the day I can get into the water.

Jamaica is the only place that would have plantation tours. Peat Taylor is great and for what he does, he is less than half of a comprable ship tour ($20/person vs. $50). But climbing the falls is very wet, cold and possibly dangerous. Doesn't sound like what you want to do.

I would go on an Eastern Car. on the Explorer. Basically the same as the Voyager but more variety of things to do in terms of historical sights and shopping.

Peat Taylor takes you to Dunn's River, then on a sight seeing tour , to Fern Gully, to see the Blue Mountains, a stop in town for shopping, then will take you wherever you want to go to finish the tour. All for about $20-25 per person. The lowest ship tour costs $30 - $35 and will only take you to Dunn's River with MAYBE a too brief stop for shopping.

Again, I have to say, the Western Caribbean cruise goes to islands FAMOUS for snorkeling, beaches, and diving. I went on a cruise with a friend who didn't swim and this friend didn't have the best time because he couldn't participate in many of the activities.

Go eastern Caribbean with the Explorer of the Seas.

thanks for the info.. I've been to the Bahamas and didn't care for it, that's why I did not look into the Explorer. Is there a website that lists all the excursions for the Voyager? I'm glad I'd asked. Only because I don't want to drop all this money on a cruise and not enjoy myself. We did the Bahamas cruise on yucky Carnival a few years back and did NOT like it!!! Was actually bored.
Any more thoughts would be much appreciated. Voyager just looks like it has sooo much to offer.

Have you visited the Royal Caribbean web site? They have shore excursions listed there. Having been on both the Voyager and the Explorer, I can give you the condensed version of the excursions

Labadee
-snorkeling
- renting beach "toys"
crafts market where people will hassle you to death.

That is ALL there is to do on Labadee

Grand Cayman
just about all of the excursions are Stingray City snorkeling and diving excursions. There is an excursion to a turtle farm and a trip to the town of "Hell", but most people who do these say save your money. Grand Cayman is best for beaches, snorkeling diving

Jamaica - has horseback riding, land trip to plantations, botanical gardens, and of course, several diff. types of trips to Dunn's River. WARNING - IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE BAHAMAS, YOU MAY NOT LIKE JAMAICA. Jamaica is a very intense island, people seem to love it or hate it.

Again, if you didn't like the Bahamas, you probably won't like Jamaica.

Cozumel - has a long and expensive trip to the Mayan ruins of Tulum, and several other trips that involve snorkeling and getting wet. There is some shopping.

Some people are not impressed with Tulum. It makes for a long, hot day.

Again, Lee, check out the RCCL website and you will see what I mean. Most of the excursions are geared towards high end activity and getting in the ocean and getting wet - even the horseback riding in Jamaica.

You don't have to get off the boat in the Bahamas. For the third time, I would do the Explorer. If you don't like watersports the itin. on the Voyager is NOT FOR YOU!!!!!

Lee, try

www.royalcaribbean.com or www.rccl.com

Click on Shore Excursions. The prices are listed as well.

I agree with "Why". 90% of the excursions deal with water, watersports, diving, snorkeling, etc.
