JJ5, thank you, I'm almost healed. Just called the doctor, before he asked me to call him every 2 days for update, today he said it's not longer needed, "let's let the nature take it course". Yiiipeeeee

JaGirl, I sure will, only this time I will pick a cruise with the land tours I'd like to take and make advance reservations for those.
The only negative of the cruise is that I haven't learned much.
And hopefully next time I'll be able to drink All these exotic cocktails specials, gosh, I felt so thirsty!

HI, Faina!
Thanks for sharing a wonderful cruise! I took the same cruise years ago also with RCCL but yours was a lot more fun and exciting!
May I suggest a Disney cruice for your next cruise?
One final remark: WHAT, no food between 1am and 5am?!! Quell Tragick!
Thanks again for sharing! This is my first posting to Fodors since we had dinner that night with Paula and Shanghainese. If it weren't for you, I'd probably drop off altogether!

welcome back, glad you are planning #2. I was really worried....those short cruises on older ships can often be very disappointing. Never do one on Carnival IMO. I agree that a 7 day is more relaxing and newer ships have such better amenities. As far as doing things is ports, it's good to check www.cruisecritic.com and ask questions. The ship excursions aren't always that great and many independant operators do a better job of showing you what you want to see.
We're sailing on the new Freedom on Sunday...hopefully my vacation doesn't start like yours!

Hi there Faina! I've finally gotten to reading your delightful cruise report. How fun for you to just get away by yourself!
I lived in SoCal up until 10 years ago when we moved to Texas, and I never made it to Catalina. Always think of going there when I visit my folks in LA. Thanks for the info.
Now, where's those pictures?
