This string typifies the battle between the snob and anti-snob.

The anti-snob says anyone is being pretentious to want to pay extra for fine dining. The snob says it is all about food and ambience.

Then, the anti-snob resorts to guerilla warfare, and snipes at the snob.

The snob/anti-snob issue pervades every discussion: tipping, dress for dinner, cruise line selection, cabin selection, shipboard activities.

"Snooty" is a favorite term used by Carnival, NCL and RCL inthusiasts to describe those who want a more "refined" experience. Somehow this is seen as "showing off," and an indication that the snob is "looking down" on everybody else. This becomes a personal affront to the mass market cruisers.

Good thing we have more than one cruise line.
