Hi - I have a guaranteed 6A triple booked on Carnival for later this summer. Maybe we'll be pushed up a few decks when we check-in. Maybe not.
In any case, and specifically in this case, Peter is wrong again and Paul, as always, quietly speaks the truth as best he knows it. Can't believe you guys are still at it.
Happy sails to you....

It appears that ONE cruise line will let you book a guarantee for a triple or quad and thats Carnival. Have never sailed them and never will.

Pauls caution then that you may get a rollaway(s) for your third or fourth passenger is appropriate for Carnival. The other lines are smart enough to NOT guarantee trips and quads for that very reason. They don't want to oversell gaurentees beyond the true trip and quad cabins that won't require rollaways. Which cruise line would you want to cruise if you were requiring a trip or quad?

Have sailed twice on Carnival in a triple. Once on the Sensation, where the 3rd bed folded out from the wall,
once on the Spirit where it actually came down from the ceiling! Talk about efficienct!

You will rarely be upgraded from an inside to an outside. It can happen, but don't hold your breath.

Nice info on the North Euro cruise, thanks. Upgrade info is as you find it, a crapshoot. If you want a better cabin than you are booking, then come up with the cash and buy a better cabin and you will be sure. Cruising, all traveling, is not a game, it is a business. If you are selling shoes, will you upgrade for me if business is slow. As for lower decks, Paul is correct. Lower decks have big windows and no public room noise. Those balcony things are a JOKE. You sit all by yourself on your balcony and when on the sunny side you burn up out there all by yourself. It is rare that your balcony will be aimed at some interesting view. Some people have no common sense, ship lines love you guys.

Usually upgrades are available if the cruise line overbooks in a category or if there is a lot of extra cabins on the ship. But also if you use a large travel agency such as Carlson Wagonlit that books a large amount of cabins they will upgrade their cleints before say internet bookers. Also be aware they also have special Carlson rates for the Carlson agencies.

Fodors - looks like another advertisement for a travel agency - no,no! Also, its not true that any cruise line upgrades private TA clients before internet bookers.
