Teens in Casino

My 18 year old daughter will be cruising with my husband and I to Tahiti next spring. Will she be able to accompany us into the casino and watch us even if she does not gamble herself? How strict are the rules on Princess regarding this? It would be fun for her to at least watch us lose money!!!!

Hi Meg,

Must be 21 to gamble or even hang around in the Casino. I have seen them ask teens to leave.

Paul

It depends on where you're cruising, and on the cruiseline. I have been on cruises in Europe where kids were in the bars drinking and in the casinos gambling.

Meg, my oldest daughter is 17 and has been cruising with us for the last four years. We haven't been on a ship yet that asked her to leave while I'm playing the slots. I'm sure Paul's right about the rules, but I don't think they're enforced unless the children are young and causing problems.

Thanks to all that replied...my daughter looks much older than 18 and carries herself in a very mature way, so maybe it won't be a problem. We are going on the Tahitian Princess, the old R3.

Pacific Princess (new one) is the R3.
I sailed her in 2001. I love that ship. Hope that Princess treats her kindly.
Meg: Maybe you are going on the R4!?

On Princess I am talking about table games. The pit boss will not allow teens at, or next to, the tables. I do not know about the slots.

There are cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean, where one can gamble at 18.

Paul

Carnival allows 18-yr-olds to gamble also.

Last Christmas on the Princess Grand I saw a family in the casino every night. Mom, Dad and older son (21 or 22) were busy gambling and drinking at the tables and the slots while the younger son (probably 19 or 20) watched and mingled. I never saw him gambling (not even a quarter in the slots) or drinking, but he definitely hung out in the casino. I did see the casino bartender refuse some girls drinks because they couldn't provide ID. They were begging him and claiming it was for someone else, but he wouldn't budge!
