Star Princess

We are taking the Star Princess out of Copenhagen in September to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. Because this is a special occasion we went for the Mimi-Suite and hope we made the right choice!

Also would like to know about the Steak House, we have been on other cruise and enjoyed the optional dinning and want to know about the Star's.

I haven't been to the steak house but we did take the Star on a Baltic cruise in June of 2007. Congrats on the crusie and its occasion in particular. A mini suite is always very nice and the Baltic is a great cruise, one of the best you can take. we did go to Sabatinis, the Italian speciality restaurant on teh Star and have been to it on other Princess hips as well so if you were not aware of this do try it.
Enjoy. Larry

ruthca - we may be on the same cruise - we leave Copenhagen September 9 and arrive in Rome Sept 23. Hope for no ash.

Try CruiseCritic also - you may find out information there. I just read that the steak house is called Sterling.

Congratulations on 25 years!

Baltic cruise will be wonderful for the couple. Are your children coming with you? Very romantic place and good for everything, what you need.

You'll love the Star. We were on a 16 night cruise from Buenos Aires to Antarctica in Jan. this year. The staff was wonderful. Getting to know the passengers for 16 days, was something I had not experienced in my 7- 10 day cruising. If you are a coffee drinker, get the coffee card--it's worth every penny ( about 24$, and if you don't use it all, it's good through your other Princess cruises). The mini-suites are wonderful. The C.D. was JJ Ulrich--we didn't care for him much--he was sarcastic, conceited and definitely not as good as the other as the Cruise Directors that we've had on 10 cruises (7 on Princess). But this doesn't make or break a cruise--have a great time and congradulations on your anniversary.

cruizer2 - what is the coffee card? I thought coffee was free. I had heard you need a card for soda or juice during the day except for lemonade.

Eschew: Oh God yes on both counts. I lived not to far from Wrigley Field, about 1.5 miles and still remember the olf BH greats like Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and all those guys. IIRC you are in western Canada, correct?
Coffee is free but Princess coffee is notoriously bad so premium roasts and specialty coffees are available and that is where the coffee card comes into play. Its a nominal fee for all the premium roast you want and I think you get 12 puncked per card for specialty coffees like expressos, lattes, etc.

Bratsandbeer, the coffee card is a bargain if you like expressos, latte and the like. The Princess coffee has actually been better lately but if you wanta premium roast at their international cafe, this is a really good deal.

You order a latte or ice expresso ($3.50 plus 15% grat.) , instead of paying that, they punch your card. Last time, they didn't even punch my card for the premium roasted brew coffee. They punch one hole for the latte and comp the premium roasted coffee for the duration.

I don't remember actually how much I paid. $20 for a card with 15 drinks? or was it $15 for 12?

Larry, I am from Braintree but I travel lots to AB and BC, both business and pleasure. With the Briuns out of the picture, I prefer to see an originl 6 team winning.

Look for coupons from Princess or your TA. Sometimes they have 2 for 1 coupons in the books. They don't push the coffee card like the soda card and wine package. Usually you can buy them from the soda pop table. You will have to ask for the coffee card. It looks like a playing card.

Last Nov, I bought 2 cards and find out I have a coupon when I get to my cabin. Went to the International cafe and they gave me 2 more card so I had 4 of of them. I still have a card and a half left after 2 cruises. Since there is no expiry date on it so I intend to use it in October.
