South America cruise around the horn

I have read that the cruise around the horn can experience rough seas. Would like input from anyone who has taken this cruise. What month did you go, how was the weather and what ship did you sail? I have not been seasick on the large cruise ships but the roughest it's been was in the gulf of Alaska. Thank you.

Nov '02 on the Zenith it was dead calm and sunny, but quite cool.

March, 2003, Royal Princess (no longer in their fleet)big storm out of Falkland Islands on way to Cape Horn. Just like you read about in the days of the whalers and old clipper ships. Thank heaven for good engines and no sails. It was exciting! over in 5 hours. Luckily we never get seasick.
Go for it anyway, great cruise, we plan to do it again in 2 years.

We went in February 2004 on NCL Crown. There were times the sea was very, very rough. We were not able to go around the horn because the sea was so rough. We chose the Crown because we do not like tenders, and the Crown was able to dock at all ports except Falkland. Falkland does not have a dock for cruise ships.

We would go again but not on the Crown. The weather was not nice enough to be outside on deck and the Crown has very little inside public areas for the number of passengers. Finding a place without smoke was a problem. We were in our room for quite a bit of the trip because of the smoking.

We were on the Regent Mariner 60 day South America trip last January-March and must say that of all our cruises, this was the BEST. The ports, the scenery, the ship, the service, food & staff were outstanding.

We only had about an hour of rough seas when we rounded the horn so this really was not an issue for us or other passengers we were with. We were lucky with wonderful weather through out most all of our cruise.
