Hi Kay,

If you read all the past threads you should have a general idea what to see and do.

Do you have any specific question?

Paul

I've read the previous posts, found lots, however, several state that the port is being built. Was wondering how far they've come, is there enough to do w/o taking an excursion. I just did a Costa Rica trip and we spent alot of time on a motorcoach and am not looking forward to doing that so soon again.

Hi Kay,

There should be enough on the previous threads to explain Costa Maya and Progreso.

Best to study each port and the tours offered by reading the explanation of each tour that comes with your cruise documents. Each tour will will be explained in detail and each tour will tell how long the bus ride is.

Eveyone has their own lifestyle and where one tour is terrible to one may be ideal for another.

To read a thread it is best to read carefully about the description of the tour and not whether one likes or dislikes it.

Enjoy,

Paul

I assume I'm not explaining myself well enough. I have read the posts and have read the descriptions of the tours. I know just how long each bus ride is. But again I don't wish to do another "bus" tour/excursion. That is why I was hoping someone who's been there recently can tell me if the port area is developed enough to be entertaining for the 6 hrs I'll be there. That's assuming I'll be sleeping in, Plan to dance the nite away.

I understand. Progreso is an old ramshackled Mexican town. Unless you are interested in this type of stuff you will only spend about 10 minutes in town.

Guess you will be stuck with a bus ride.

Paul
Hi Kay-

We were in Costa Maya in April. We really enjoyed it. Spent the day at Uvero Beach...(Jungle Beach Break). We had a great time.

The port itself is brand new. You could probably amuse yourself right there for the day. They've got a MONSTER swimming pool. Food, booze, live music, gift shops. Workers dressed up in Mayan Warrior garb, blowing conch shells, etc. Pretty neat.

As you're coming down the pier, there's a small rocky beach to the right. I understand that there was some nice snorkeling there.

We really enjoyed Costa Maya. You can check out some pictures here...2 seperate photo albums:

http://community.webshots.com/user/nononanette/1
