This is a spectacular city and there is so much to do! Stay on or near Robson and walk the area. At night there are street performers everywhere.
Stanley Park is beautiful and nearby.
Granville Market is amazing- allow a few hours and have lunch in the best food court anywherer.
The Gaslight District is interesting.
There are wonderful restaurants everywhere and of every imaginable variety.
A week is not enough in this city.

You will love it!!! I loved Stanley Park, you can just relax, or hike or whatever. You could visit the Aquarium. There is a science centre if you like that sort of thing. I really had fun, but never even dreamed of visiting a science centre, but my friend made me go, and it was worth it. You could go over the Capelano suspension bridge (I spelled that wrong I know), there is a mountain you can go up too, but I don't remember the name right now. There is a restaurant up at the top and you can see the whole city.
There is soo much to do, you won't be able to pack it all in.

Vancouver is often rated one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and 1 day is not enough to take in all the sights of a city where downtown office workers can spend their lunch hour walking a beautiful beach; where you can ski down spectacular mountains (not in summer, of course) within a short distance of the center of town; where people live with closeup views of the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Ocean from the same window; where you can get spectacular meals (esp. Asian) at unbelievably low prices; which attracts people who appreciate natural beauty and a fun lifestyle. You may never want to leave Vancouver. Just touring the city, as suggested by kfusto, is hard to squeeze into 1 day.
