There is a thread over there from people that were on the boat when this happened--&gt;<BR><BR>Last Wednesday morning at 8 AM, a sudden squall came out of nowhere hitting the Radiance broadside with a windgust of some 65 knots causing the ship to list 7 degrees to starboard for what seemed like an eternity. Several thousand gallons of water from the pools and hot tubs emptied onto deck 11 swamping the Windjammer and then running down stairways and elevators. There was significant loss of glassware and some minor damage all over the ship. The Windjammer was closed for several hours for cleanup and repairs and the Captain said he had never seen anything like that in 10 years. The skies cleared and our fantastic voyage continued.<BR><BR><BR>

morrow373- Sounds JUST like what happend to us in the ZENITH thru the Panama Canal a few year ago-- but the tilt was so bad, if you were in the dining room, the room shifted and those near the windows came almost level with the WATER---and those on the other side of the dining room saw nothing but SKY-- talk about damage- same thing-pools emptied out, kitchens and lots of the dinner prep was a mess= and the staff came out of THEIR cabins holding LIFE VESTS!! One of the most scary sailings I have ever had.....

Does anyone know for sure what started the small fire on the RCCL ship a few days ago?<BR>I have not read anything about the cause<BR>except one post on another board that said a couple of teenagers were responsible.<BR>

I heard speculation that it was a cigarette thrown over the aft of the ship that blew back into that area, starting the fire.

Cruises are NOT non-smoking with the exception of one Carnival ship, the Paradise.<BR> Almost all the open deck areas are smoking.<BR>One big problem on all the lines is people tossing cigarettes overboard. The ships repeatedly remind people how dangerous it is but they still do it. <BR>

We were on the Radiance end of Jan. I am sure glad I was not on it when this happened. The poor people must have horrified. You can smoke on this ship in certain locations. Where smoking is allowed there are ashtrays.

Once again, people on this board lose sight of facts. The ship did NOT nearly capsize. Not even close. Gramps is right. I was on board the Sky when she had an 8 degree list. It was certainly dramatic but apparently not enough to be in actual danger of capsizing.
