In my opinion, easiest way is to book a transfer through Cunard. While it may be more expensive than other alternatives, it's very convenient. Well worth the extra money. You even get a nice commentary from London to Southampton about the surrounding area.

I did try to book the transfer through Cunard, but they don't have one, only from Gatwick Airport. I did find it hard to believe that they didn't have this service, which their booklet says they do have. Maybe it has been discontinued.

When I sailed on the QE2 to Southampton, we contacted one of the bus tour transportation companies in London and asked if they had limo service. They did, and we ended up being picked up by a Daimler limo (like the Queen Mum used to travel in). Funny thing was, on the way to London, we got hungry, and asked the driver to stop at a rest stop so we could get something to nibble on. You should have seen the faces of the people coming out of Burger King when we pulled in.

Hello,
I am a travel agent/cruise specialist and I would suggest going with a private car and driver, too. They will help you with your luggage, doing a tour for you during the trip, stop if you'd like to take pictures at a certain location. It is a really wonderful way to travel between airport and pier. I have some personal contacts in London who can provide this service and other cruise specialists may also have contacts, too.
Also, you might check back with Cunard. They will have some hotels in London for people who have arranged pre-cruise hotel stays before the cruise and some of these guests will have purchased their airfare from Cunard. You may be able to purchase the ground transportation to depart from one of these hotels.
Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!
Best Regards,
Julia
