Puerto Queztal, Guatemala port stop

Hi guys: We will have a port stop here in Feb. and have decided on either the Mayan ruin excursion or going to the Green Bay resort (no Packers jokes please. ) to relax for the day. My question is how extensive are the Mayan ruins there? We have seen Tulum and Chitzen Itza so how do the ruins near PQ compare? Would it be less that impressive having already seen the ruins mentioned? Thank you. Larry.

Which Mayan ruins are they planning to take you? Will you be on the pacific ocean or the atlantic ocean?
The Green Bay resort is by the beach, nothing fancy, wouldn't go there. The ruins is where I'd go.

Larry,

You will love Antigua--we took a cab from outside the cruise terminal with driver and interpretor-..6 of us at 30 US per person. We spent the day enjoying what the ship's tour paid 100 US per person--saw all the same spots at a very leisurely pace. Pat

Thank you Pat. There is someone, a guy named Jeff who replied to this ? on the Latin America forum and he recommended Antigua. I looked into it and it looks pretty good. My plan is to begin in Central park. Have you seen it? Yes, i do intend to use a drivr right from the dock. Thats usually a much cheaper way to go and its more connvienent too. Do you know anything about Leon in Nicaragua? Larry

Leon is a place that opens when the tourist busses arrive and closes as they leave. one bathroom in the whole town in a bar. one church like any other. Most of the stops on these cruises are tourist stops.
